How to rotate engine?

This is probly a dumb questian but, what do I use to turn the crankshaft to find top dead center? I just bought a leakdown tester and small air compressor to do a leakdown test on my 1990 I-6 F-150 and I am not sure how to turn the engine. I have a whistle to screw in the spark hole(and a remote starter) to tell me when the cylinder is on the compression stroke, but from there do I just use a socket on the bolt on the harmonic balancer or is there a special tool I need.
Thanks for any helpfull suggestians.

just a large socket and a large breaker bar have worked for me...undo the battery first for safety..turn engine clockwise ...easier from underneath to get to the balancer
