Well...my second week of owning my truck and i think i will learn somthing this time.
Heres what happend:
Started the truck, waited about 3 mins to warm up(i had just driven it about 45 min ago so it was pretty much warm) and i started off down the street. In 1st gear right as i hit around 2000 RPM (half throttle) the pedal almost went to the floor(real light pedal) and the engine lost power, i left off the pedal then got back on it, hit 2nd gear and again half throttle and the engine lost power, left off the pedal again then got back on it, hit 3rd gear then 4th without it losing power. When it lost power i think i was hearing air pressure being released. Maybe somthing to do with the turbo/wastegate? After that it didnt do it in 1st,2nd.
I havnt done the wastegate mod yet, but i wil be doing it 2morrow night as i do my HPX line installment. My line didnt come with instructions which didnt really bother me, but i want to make sure that the line go to Cyl #5 and #6 oil galleys??
Sorry for the long/very bad punctuation reading. Thanks!
Sounds like the EBPV. (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve) I had the same problem so I just eliminated it. If you just unplug it you will get a code that comes up so I ordered a EBPV Eliminator from Black Cloud Diesel. I hope that helps!
that sounds normal to me it is just your exhaust back pressure valve and it helps your truck warm up faster. seeing that you live in wisconsin you want to keep this valve. you could delete it if you lived where it is warmer but not here. it will kick off as soon as the engine is warmed up or when you step on the gas hard. deleting the wastegate has no effect on your ebpv. your engine must have just been cold enough to activate it i dont remember what the temperatures were but it depends on intake air temp, engine oil temp and some other sensors
disabling it during the summer will not do any good. it does not close unless the intake temp is less that 37 so when it is warm the valve will be open all the time. you will not notice a difference disabling it
Ok then..i wont even touch it, ide prolly mess it up anyhow. I noticed your location is Mukwanago, WI. Thats where i bought my truck! At Amato Ford. Small world~
