Exclamation Engine Swap......Will This Work??????

Hey everyone,
I'm new here, so let me tell you what I have going on here. My daily driver is a 1993 Ford (duh) F-150 4x4. It has the 4.9 inline and a 5spd. I also have a 4" long travel lift kit with 38.5 Super Swamper (not a combo that I would recomend). The truck is sharp so I hate to sell it. It's silver with blackout lights all the way around, and blacked out windows.
I also have an old 1978 Bronco 4x4. It has been built for mud racing but the body has seen better days. My question is, how much work would it be to swap the 400ci V-8,the auto tranny and the transfercase into my F-150 from the Bronco? The reason I want to do this is because the old 4.9 has noooo power at all (it only has 98,xxxmi on it). The 400ci in the Bronco has been built, and the tranny has been upgraded. So I know they are both good units.
If there is a way for this engine swap to work, on down the road I want to swap axles also. Swap out the F-150s for the 9" in the Bronco. Then convert the front TTB to coil springs for my Dana44 axle up front on the Bronco.
Thanks for the help, Jose

Mechanically, this isn't a difficult swap if you're swapping the engine/tranny together as a set. The motor mounts you'd want to use are 1993 F250/350 7.5L motor mounts and the tranny crossmember you'll have to shuffle around in the differnt bolt holes but it should fit reasonably well.

This leaves driveshaft lengthening or shortening, and u-joint issues, but I haven't done that exact swap so I won't make a bad guess for you to waste money on.

What happens aside from the mechanicals is your pickup is currently EFI, and your 400M isn't.

If you don't cut any wires, your RABS, speedo and odometer will work as they have no problem, as all that stuff is tied to the speed sensor in the rear.

But you will have to remove the EEC, and much of the under-hood wiring, or at least wrap the connectors in electrical tape and tuck them on the fender well somewhere so they don't dangle on the exhaust manifolds.

Dude,

Thanks for the reply. I havn't been on here in a while. Wow!! That sounds like a pretty easy swap. I'm aware that the 400 isn't EFI, thats one of the things I like about it. So have you done swaps like this before? The reason I ask is because I was wondering, if the shifter for the auto tranny will line up with the hole in the truck from the 5spd?

Thanks a ton for the info.
