I have a 2000, F250, XLT, 4 door, w/ power locks & windows. Occasionally the dome & bed lights will stay on after the doors are closed. When the engine is turned off the lights will eventually go off and while driving they turn off around 15 mph and come back on when I stop. I was told this is a common problem and that the switch in one of the latches is bad. Over time I narrowed it down to the rear passenger side door and have avoided using that door. This is very inconvenient so I purchased a new switch on from a local dealer for $15, tore apart the door, & located the switch. Unfortunately I cannot figure out how to remove the original switch (located where not visible). Looking at the new one it appears that I need to twist the switch and pull it down and out of the latch assembly. However, what appears to be the power lock motor is in the way both to see the switch and to twist the switch. I have not been able to figure out how to remove the power lock motor or figure out how to remove the switch. Currently my door panel is still off and the switch is unplugged to keep the light off for now while I try to figure this out. Unfortunately the local dealer isn't much help. They obviously want to fix it themselves, for a "small" fee of course. Any information on removing the power lock motor or the dome light switch in the latch would be greatly appreciated.

Reason: Fix title
I had the same problem. A friend gave me a tech tip that worked rather well and is still working 2 years later. He told me to spray a lubricant inside of and on the door latches. I used remington gun oil. I suppose you can use whatever.
Ditto the gummed up door latch problem. My '99 F250 SuperCab did it a couple of times. I used liberal amounts of WD40 on the latches and it solved the problem. Open and shut the door a few times after spraying to get everything loose again.
I tried the WD40 trick but the dome light problem persists. Any suggestions on where to find out how to remove the switch attached to the latch inside the door? Or how to remove the power lock motor so that I can attempt to see how the switch is held into the latch assembly?
There is a small plastic retaining tab that locks the switch in. You have to gently pry the tab out while twisting the switch to release it. Be very careful with the tab as you can break it off. The fun part is getting to it. If you can see the tab at all you may be able to do it in place, other wise you will probably have to unbolt the latch and move it for better access.
