Is there a safety switch in the gear column. And sometimes when I put the truck in park I get out the truck and it starts rolling. Then I push it up a little bit and it catches. Any info on this would be helpful.
Assuming auto trans couple of things.
1. It could be the linkage needs to be adjusted but more likely
2. The shift collar on the top of the column breaks and causes the shift positions to change. Eventually the collar will completely break and you can be stranded. I would pull the wheel, turn signal switch and check the collar for cracks.
3. The parking prawl in the trans could be worn.
or
4. The cab mounts could be rusted through allowing the cab to sag and chaging the shift linkage geometry.
My guess would be number 2. Assuming you've never pulled the trans, the linkage shouldn't just go out of adjustment.
