Gauge Sweep

I have a 2003 supercrew with the 5.4l, everytime I go to start it the gauges sweep to the right. If itry to crank it right away it takes a while to start, if I wait for the gauges to sweep back to the left before I crank it it starts right away. I also have code p1633, are these connected somehow? Where should I look to resolve this?

P1633 Keep Alive Power Voltage Too Low. Sounds like you need a new battery.

Yep. Classic dying battery symptom.

Thanks for the info guys. I will have the battery checked out today, hopefully that solves it.

Thanks for the replies, but the battery looks ok, I have had the battery tested and it still does the gauge sweep and still has the same error code - p1633. I did forget to mention that ocasionally the trip odometer resets itselfd, usually after a longer drive. Could it be my gauge cluster acting up or my PCM? Where would be a good place to start searching for this?

Just for laughs, test the battery under load. Turn the headlights on, wait about 30 seconds, then try to start the engine. If the lights go off or become VERY dim while starting, it may still be the battery.
