Unhappy Idling

Having a 1988 460 5-speed manual F250 reg. cab. revs go up and down when idling (between 500 and 1200) and exhaust smells like unburned petrol. What could I do about this. Also whats the best repair book for this model.

On the idle, check the IAC. pull it and clean it with carb cleaner sounds what mine did. On he repair manual I would personally have to say Haneys.

actually, if you're smelling gas, i'd bet it's the fuel pressure regulator. buddy had the sam probelm on his 89 302.

to answer your 2nd question, the IAC is located on the throttle body right over the butterflies. it's about 6" long and has a harness that plugs into it.
