i have a 99.5 psd with 6pos ts chip and 6637 filter mod, when i goose it and its shifts gears it sounds like the turbo is making a metal to metal sputtering sound, but when im at about half throttle or less just cruising around it doesnt do it and sounds normal, fins on the turbo are in great shape. is this turbo stall or what, is this what the ww is supposed to fix, usually does it when i hit about 20-25 psi boost and releases pressure after gear shift.

can you describe the noise it is making? a metal to metal sound is vague. the wooshing sound of air is normal with the 6637 filter when youre "into it" and suddenly let off.
its the whooshign sound except a sputter whooshing with a metal scratching type noise. sounds like a sputter grinding is another way i could describe it. but only does it while i really stay on it and on the higher chip settings and doesnt do it on the stock setting. it also doesnt last a long time its only when the psi releases around 20-25 psi.

You'll need to put your hands on the wheel and physically verify there is no metal to metal contact, but assuming there is not, the wheel will cure what ails ya'.
You might also try removing (and pluging) the red vacum line attached to the wastegate accuator. I have heard from other fourms on this site that it is supposed to do the same thing as the wicked wheel. Kwikk can give you more indepth info on this procedure. I removed the one on my 99 PSD a week ago.
Lets clear one thing up before it gets away from us.....disabling the wastegate does not cure compressor stall, it makes it worse.
Bigger intakes, bigger exhaust, more fuel, more boost....these are the things that make power, but they are also the reason the stock compressor is running past it's stall line.
