theres a company that has a rebuilt turbo with a different cold side wheel it has 6 fins instead of 8 fins for faster spooling up and its only 465.00 with gastets for the pedastool. i decided to change the turbo due to the leak and hope that by upgrading a little it will help.
the price sounds like its for there ported exaust housing. that will make the turbo spool faster but i think for stock fuel the wastegate is not needed. a non wastegated 1.0ar housing will spool the turbo faster for about $150 a custom intake side with a larger compressor wheel with the 1.0ar on the other side works great. im running a similar setup the hybrid setup but flowing 1250cfm.
So the one you are looking at s a rebuilt stock turbo with a different wheel? That should work fine, though it sounds like the new wheel will be less efficient than the stocker. May loose a couple of pounds of boost.
Well.....I suppose since it costs half as much as a stock rebuilt it might be worth it, and from the looks of that site they do (or should) know a lot more than I do about turbos, but I wonder if you guys were on the same page during your conversation.
My stock wheel had 10 blades, and my aftermarket performance wheel had 10 blades, and my aftermarket performance turbo has 10 blades. And as far as I know, your wheel also has 10 blades.........
i thought mine have more than 8 but i haven't looked at my turbo, but i will talk to him again i will mention that., i asked him if its a garret he said of coarse it is just modded for better low end and the same top end
