blown front seal?

blown front seal?
What sre the symptons for a blown front seal? my 55 w/302 has oil coming out near the dip stick I may take it to a shop due to me being to busy to work on it. If it's the front seal how difficult would the fix be?

It's been about 10 years ago but I replaced the seals and oil pan gasket on a 289 which would be the same thing. It was not a difficult job. I was actually working on the distributor and the bottom half of the shaft fell into the oil pan. Since I had to pull the pan to retrieve the distributor shaft I decided to install new front and rear seals. It didn't leak before or after I pulled the pan so I guess I did a good job...
