Powerstroke transmission problem,help
We have a 1995 Powerstroke F250 automatic with 226000 miles. We have never had a problem with the transm. Always ran Mobil 1. Getting off highway, traveling on service road and heard a pop. Lost all forward momentum. Engine fine. No check light came on. Park works. But will not go forward or go in reverse. Suspect torque converter. Has anyone heard of this problem....?

Sounds like you are in for a rebuild. It might be something small, but with that many miles, once it is torn apart to find the problem you should do it all and be done with it. You can do a stock rebuild or beef it up. If you tow I would beef it up.

When a torque converter fails there is usually some indication with transmission problems chattering, slipping etc. unless the neck of the unit snapped. Pressure control valve? Dumb question but is the drive shaft still attached?

If the driveshaft came off he would not be able to put the truck into park while it was running. Sound like a rebuild time. Spend the xtra $ for the beef if you plan on keeping it for a while, youll thank yourself later.
