Question AIH Removal

I'm considering removing the AIH on my truck. I know many of you have done this mod, what exactly is involved and will it affect the warm up of my truck. I live at the foothills of the Sierras, 5000' elevation, and it can get in the 10 ~ 30 degree range overnight. I don't want to do any damage during a cold morning warm up. I know I will get the right info from someone here.

It has nothing to do with warming the truck up - it is supposedly to minimize exhaust smoke during extended idleing during cold weather.

Yea no problem - I noticed NO differences after I took mine out - so I'd say go for it. When you pull the wires to the AIH - make sure you put the BLUE wire back on to the relay - otherwise you'll be throwing codes, and possibly the SES light.

I'm on the Black Cloud site right now looking at the plug for this mod, is the P0541 code eliminator necessary? Or will hooking the Blue wire back on the relay do the same thing?

As long as you don't try to delete the relay too, but leave it there and keep the blue wire hooked up, I don't see why you'd need that thing they sell?

i just took off the wires on the plug, and hid them in the jungle of wires under there. they arent touching, and it did throw a code, but it didn't affect performance. i just cleared the code and that was that. some guys do the AIH for free, simply cut the coil and porcelain section off that protrudes into the air flow. i myself have the AIH delete plug from BCD and it was super easy.

I ordered the plug from BCD also, figured I may as well include the code eliminator and not worry about it...... Thanks for the input from everybody,,,,
