I just purchased a 1999 F250. Love the truck. Only problem is, it came with only one key. Is there any way to program a second key without going to the dealer. I've read that programming a third key is no problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I am sure the keys for the SuperDuty is just a regular key. They do not have the PATS system so any place should be able to make you a copy and it should work.
If thats the case, you could probably buy an OEM PATS key for it on ebay and any local key maker could probably cut it. But I think it would still require a dealer to erase and then reprogram both ignition keys.
I had a 99 F350 and it didn't take anything special to get an extra key. I just went to a locksmith and they cut it, gave me the key and it worked. No programming. I would assume it is the same for the F250's.
I was just wondering if you are talking about the keyless entry fob? That would be different and need to be programmed.
it might depend on if it is a 99 or a 99.5. i have a 99.5, and it is the regular key, no PATS. just try and have a regular key cut.... then you will only spend a couple dollars, and will know for sure.
If he has a '99 F-250 Light Duty, then he has PATS. If he has a '99 F-250 Superduty, he doesn't have PATS. Back in '99 they still made the Light Duty F-250. It has a GVWR of 8600# and looks more like the F-150. The Superduty's have a GVWR of 8800# and look like SD's from '99-'04. I've never actually seen a F-250LD in real life, I just know they exist.
