i want to get rid of the stock exhaust on my truck. trucks are supposed to be loud. im looking at the mbrp system. is there any advantage of the 304 over the 409 because both are polished and both are stainless. are you basically paying extra just for the warranty? how easy are they to install? i know 304 is better metal but 409 shouldnt rust anyway. is the stock system aluminized? i cant tell after 200,000 miles
thanks for the advice

The largest differences between the 409 and 304 are quality in the metal, price, and the 304 comes with exhaust tips installed. I have had the aluminized system on my truck for over 1.5 years and have yet to see even so much as a hint of rust. So basicly its up to you on what you would like, and spend. The stock system on the truck is aluminized.
im just worried that the aluminized will rust because the roads are salted almost all winter long. the one on my truck is rusted pretty bad and i dont want to spend all the money on aluminized and have it rust right away. anyone out there runnining aluminized where you get a lot of snow?

Ditto on the salt...that's why i got the 409 MBRP 4". Looking back i would have paid $150 extra to get the Aeroturbine muffler/resonator instead of the MBRPmuffler...no drone(most notable while towing).

There are many good exhaust out there and the guys here know what they are talking about. I too am looking and theres a company on ebay selling a 4 inch turbo back for 230.00 plus 35.00 shipping and you get a lifetime warrenty. Not to bad in my book, but I wouldnt say they are better than others, I believe they are designed by "jardine".

how does your mbrp sound? the 409 is the one im leaning toward. i cant see spending 300 more for duals or a 304 system. was it easy to install
I just purchased and installed the T-304 stainless 4" MBRP exhaust system and love it. I thought is was rather easy to install but I did have my truck on lift. I absolutely love the sound (loud exterior, soft interior), and would recomend the system for anyone. I would buy the 304 stainless because of the warranty and more importantly the 5" tip. I also removed the cross the member and held the tranny up with a tranny lift to keep the stock system in tact. The 4" down pipe wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. I found that if you turn it 180 degrees so that the other end(recieveing the rest of the system) is pointed towards the front of the truck it will sneek right up in there. Then just swing it around and put the clamp on. (better with two people and make sure the tranny and cross member are back in place, otherwise you won't be able to swing the pipe back around). If you have any more questions feel free to email me at hondarulesmfv@hotmail.com. Good luck on the install!
I just recently put the 409 MBRP 4" exhaust on my lifted F-250 and I think it is great. I have more power combined with the Kwikk mod and the exhaust and man does that turbo whistle now!! I did a lot of searches and this is definitley the best quality exhaust for the price.....that I could find!
well i finally decided to spend my money and get the 4 inch 409 mbrp. im hoping its loud so i can annoy the neighbors some more. thanks for all the help in choosing my exhaust. it seems like the downpipe will be hard to get off because it is so rusted or am i worrying about nothing?

one word: recipricating saw. Cut it before the crossmember then take liquid wrench and dowse the "V" clamp at the turbine housing. Unscrew the the
V clamp just about all the way. I found the hardest part was removing the old exhaust...then i got a recipricating saw.

I went the sawsall route and it came out with no problems at all. If you have not taken the downpipe loose from the turbo recently, shoot some PB blaster on it and let it soak overnight. The clamp will pop right off with a little tapping from a screwdriver. The MBRP system went on like a dream. It's an easy one-man job.
I'm still searching for my PC mic that's buried in a box after a recent move this summer. I want to try some sound recordings because it sure sounds good from the cab.
409 rusts and 304 doesn't... My downpipe was a major PITA to get off. It involved a crowbar and a hammer. It is worth all the time and effort in the end though.
Call me weird, but i like my truck quite.
I'm in my truck 4-5 hours aday so noise get old fast.
I'd like to go 4" or 5" for the performance but
keep the interior as quite as posibile.
Which system will do that?
