351m/400 intake

well i got a new intake manifold for my 351m/400. this is my first time doing this and i followed the instructions on how to put it on. well after about 3 days it died on me. well i felt in the back that the rubber part was hanging out. i was pretty mad. well i have heard rumors of a gasket that is all one piece so i don't have to mess with that rubber crap. also i heard just run a line of the black silicone where the rubber piece goes. please give me some pointers on how to fix this problem so it doesn't happen again.

Did you have the heads planed? If so, you probably won't be able to use the rubber gasket because it will be too thick. When this is the case, a friend of mine uses RTV silicone instead of the gasket. Personally, I hate silicone but no one makes a gasket for use when the heads have been planed.

The silicone idea is what I always use and it works good.
