Hey guys, my gfs 1999 Ford Explorer v6 needs new brakes. Where can I get some rear and front brakes.. and what kind of braking fluid does it take? DOT-3?
You can get brakes at any auto store. The question is... what type of brakes will you get. I wouldn't get anything less than semi-metallic. Don't forget to get the anti squeal lube..
www.RockAuto.com carries brake pads starting at about $12 a set. We also have loaded (pads installed) brake calipers, rotors (starting at $11) and the other brake parts you might need.
DOT 3 is the only brake fluid I have ever heard Ford recommend. Ford's Motorcraft says their brake fluid meets DOT 3, SAE J1703 and FMCVSS 116 specifications. www.RockAuto.com does not sell chemicals, but DOT 3 brake fluid is available everywhere; even grocery stores.
I have used rockauto a couple of times now and they do have great prices on brake parts, even after shipping. Plus they often have 5% discount codes... like this one

I recommend the Raybestos semi-metallics for your vehicle...
