My silly 96 Aerostar 3.0 4x4 has a new quirk.....there is a muffled beeping eminating from under the dash. It beeps in a set of 5 tones 3 times. What the heck?? Everything seems normal otherwise, ne help boys?
My 94 does that, too. I think it has something to do with the airbag and clockspring. Even if I am parked and listening to the radio, when I turn the key to accessory, I get the beeps. If I am waiting for over 30 minutes (won't have to explain that to the married guys) I get the beeps again. Of course, my airbag lamp is flashing, but it's too cold for me to be working on the clockspring in the driveway. Maybe in the spring.

Dave:
When your airbag light flashes, it does so to give you a code. Most common are 32 and 53. Tell us what the code is. It might not be the clockspring.

Mine is a 32. I've had the clockspring since last fall and just haven't gotten to it. Having been hit by that airbag twice already, I am not real sure I am upset that it may not fire.
I think maybe the code 32 and the 5 beeps are not the same thing.
Yes, 32 is the clockspring. I thought it might have been 53, which is just a thermal fuse in the Airbag computer, which would have been easier and cheaper. Bad luck, Dave
