i have a 89 f250 with a 351 it runs awsome has a 5spd i had a 93 a few years back with a 351 it was also a f250 it got about 16 mpg i was impressed since i drove it hard but my 89 only gets maybe 10 on a good day down wind in od on the high way but driveing it to town and back i only get around 5-7 mpg i put in a hi flow air air cleaner i done some exaust work. it seems to have alot more power but still crappy milage it has new oil and plugs i did notice when it is cold it wants to stall when i give it gas but after it warms a bit it is fine and also it dose kinda dog down in low end when going to 3rd gear but it comes out of in fast has anyone had a simaller proublem or sugestions i work on alot of trucks but all my other trucks are bb older hi performance bbf's so i am new to the small block efi stuff thanxs
I would pull the codes first off, see if anything shows up there. You can have error codes stored in the computer without them triggering the Check Engine Light.
Also, you might check the timing. Should be 10º BTDC with the spout connector removed.
There are several ways you can pull the codes. Many auto parts stores will pull them for you in the hopes that you'll buy any needed parts from them, or you can buy a code scanner for about 30 bucks and do it yourself. If you have a multi-meter you can check them with that, and there are some other methods which are detailed here.
