Loosing Boost While Climbing Hills

My 04 psd is loosing boost (and power of course) while climbing hills. I can watch the boost guage fall from 25 psi to 0 then at wot it might make 5 psi. If I coast for about 200 yards or so then ease back on the throttle the boost will come back in. Called the dealer and they said it was probably a vgt solenoid or something. Has any one heard of this problem? I would like some detailed information so I could take it with me to get my truck looked at on Tuesday. Im not running a programmer but do have cat-back exhaust.

Hey Smokin it sounds like a VGT Solenoid. That is the way my old 04 acted when it went. It would at times when cold the engine would surge terribly. Thats the direction I would go with it.
