new here

hi my name is jason and im new to this forum. im in the process of purchasing a 1989 bronco ii 4wd, when i say in the process of purchasing i mean i have already paid a deposit down on it but they are putting in a new clutch as we speak. any way here is a pic of it
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...bst/bronco.jpg
it only has 59,000 original miles 2.8v6 and is in near mint condition i think it has some kind of a lift kit on it but not sure. i have a few friends that go wheelin pretty often and im planning on using this bronco ii for that and as a daily driver. im not sure exactly what size tires are on this now it think maybe 31's
but i would really like to put 33's on it asap. im not new to moddding vehicles and am very mechanically enclined with access to almost any kind of fabricating
machinerey and tools. basically i like this bronco ii and would like to lift it up more if needed to fit 33's. can anybody help me with some pro's and con's and links to find parts for this bronco ii
thanks in advance
jason

Welcome sinbroncii

The search button can do wonders for finding tons of info here. Go advanced, select the BII forum and set it to "RELAVANCY", type in the topic and you'll find more info then you ever knew was out there. Good Luck.

Also are you sure it's got a 2.8? An 89 would have come with a 2.9 and a 2.8 would mean it's not original.

Nice truck! Those look a little bigger than 31's, but that could just be because they are so wide.

Have fun!

For 33s, you're gonna need to lift 4 - 5" minumum, either all suspension or a combination of suspension and body. If you wheel hard, you may also need to hack the fenders a bit to clear.

You'll love your B2 for wheeling - they are very capable!

Congrats on the purchasing of a beasty. With 33's you'll probably want to start thinking about upgrading axles too, or you can wheel it untill the axle breaks.. not fun. But it looks like you have a 2" lift on there now. I'd go with a 6" suspension that way you can throw 33's on there and not have to worry.

As far as pros and cons go. People say they're top heavy, but I've never been scared I was going to tip and I've done some crazy things, but as long as you drive with common sense then you'll be fine. Something to watch out with the 2.9L's they like to crack the heads when overheated so make sure your cooling system is all working well.

When it comes to links, check out our site sponsors first and then you might like to check out LMCtruck.com, jamesduff.com, and JCWhitney has a little of everything.

As someone said earlier about searching and dropping down the relevancy tab on the search, you'll come up with so much info. And if it's engine related, we also have a 2.9L forum (I think it's called 2.8L 2.9L and 4.0 engines or something along those lines). Another place you might try searching if you have a problem would be the Ranger forum here too since 84-90 they were basically on the same platform.

Good luck and also welcome to FTE!!

just got the bronco ii today and bought a set of kumho mud terrain 32/11.5/16s i think there is a two inch body lift on the bronco now. there is just barely enought clearance in the wheel wells.
