Oil Weight

I have a rebuit 351m with 30,000 in my 79 f150. I changed oil recently and instead of the 10w30 I used 20w50 to see if the pressure would increase. Sure enough it did. Maintains pressure all through the range. Seems to run better but that could just be my imagination. I know that the 20w50 is thicker, is it something that I should not have put into my truck, or is it OK to Use?

Oil Weight

Depends on where you live. If you live in a region that has cold winters (below freezing), heavier weight oil can make your motor start harder.

Oil Weight

I live in NC and I'm running the 20W-50 in my 351M. Haven't had a problem with it at all. Truck seems to like the thick stuff.

I live in TX and run 20w-50 in my 351m. It works well and keeps the oil pressure up on hot days.

Oil Weight

I use to run 20W-50 in my truck and over the corse of several years it wore out the oil pump. over the course of the years I noticed a small but steady decline in oil pressure, till it finally got so lo that I was weiry to drive it. I replaced the pump and now stick with 10W-30
