If a soft ride is what you're after, I'd stay away from the Bilstiens... they are great shocks, but not at all 'plush'. You might want to consider one of the adjustable shocks like the Rancho 9000's.
I have a '99 250 and put Rancho RS9000X adjustable shocks on it. So far they are great, about 4000 miles on them. The adjustability is way nice. They will give you whatever ride you are looking for. Good luck,
Rick
I also need to replace the shocks on my 2000 F250 4x4.
I tow about 6500lb travel trailer 8 weekends a year, no more than 5 hours away, and they rest it unloaded driving. I dont want to get beat to death in the truck unloaded either?
I dont think I need the adjustable Rancho system, any other suggestions?
Anybody running the Edelbrok shocks? Magazines ALL seem to think there the best thing that ever happened to a suspension. Not sure how objective they may be when a possible sponsor is telling you "Here, try these for free."

You may want to consider Monroe's... the Gas Magnums give a tame on-road ride and are decent off-road.
Rancho RS5000 are okay, so are the RSX.

No personal experience, but I've heard that they have improved quite a bit in the past few years. It really depends on what your needs/wants are.
I have a 1999 F-250 4wd Powerstroke,I have purchased Rancho 9000 shocks,Eldebrock IAS shocks and finally Pro Comp MX6 shocks,By far the Pro Comps are the best for my tastes.I like a firm ride but not harsh, the Pro Comps are 6 way adjustable, you can tell the difference in each adjustment. You can purchase them at 4 Wheel Parts.
