Water weighs a little over 8 lbs a gallon so this would give you about 500lbs of ballast and it should work fine. Place it in the very front of the trailer.

Everyone who has ever towed anything started with no experience - you gotta start somewhere. The cautious ones are still towing ......

You two know each other right? And you're just ribbing him right? This is the kinda stuff I would post about my best bud when I know he's reading it, and I would throw in some stuff about his lack of endowment....but....

Otherwise, that lies somewhere between being presumptuous and obnoxious. It's also utter crap. How are you supposed to get experience towing until you do it? Take it slow, use common sense, and all will be fine.

And yes, full water jugs make excellent ballast as well.

Hey Leader what is your reasoning behind that statement? Just wondering.

I have actually pulled quite a few trailers over some big distances. I am not coming at this completely unexperienced. I have just never pulled this big trailer in big winds while it is empty. So I figured I could chat with some of the cool guy's on this great site and see what they thought about it.

Like I said .... the cautious ones are still towing! Absolutly nothing wrong with a quick question on something a little different than previous experience, caution dictates that you ask......And you sound like someone who would recognize if things were tending to get out of control before something happened.

concrete great idea buy it from home depot lowe and take it back and you might break even i like the water idea better (one conern water surge motion(the wave) but not positioned in the nose only place it over the axles or just in front depending on tonque load ( put it inside move forward and have someone watch the tonque just start to dip and go 1 ft. secure it down) nice pull awkward if you not used to it at first. but is still allowing you tow vehicle braking and trailer braking to be working properly. that is if it has one and works of coarse make sure safety chains on and hook correctly and brake away works to good luck

Water surge would not be a issue with full jugs and you want weight forward to add tongue weight for stabilty with empty trailer, not just between axles.

Instead of concrete. Use bags of sand. It won't get hard if moisture gets to it and can be used if runs into ice or snow. And sand is easier to clean up if the bag breaks or leaks. Concrete powder is a bear to clean up.

That sand/concrete idea is a good idea. I already have all of the jugs just sitting in the shed so I figure that would be the easiest and quickest way to go.

Anyone have anything that needs to go from denver to KC. Pay for my gas I'll take it there, haha

Thanks guy's for all of your input and idea's!
