Intermittent starting puzzle
93' 4.9 F150. Dailey routine.Truck starts right up,drive to store,comeout 10 min later and turns over but only starts after 3-4 times turning on key.After realizing fuel pump was not activating on the failed attempts, I found no power to either front or back pump when this occures.Backtracted wiring and found also no spark at engine. Replaced pickup in dist.and elec.ignition module.Experienced this everyday for last 5-6 weeks.

The Fuel pump(s) are to run for only 1 to 2 seconds after you turn on the key, they are not going to run all the time unless the engine is running.
Have some one listen real close at the tank you have selected and turn the key to the on position. See if they run for the 1 to 2 seconds.
If they do then I would check the Fuel Pressure at the Fuel Manifold with pin 6 grounded of the Test Connector.
Let us know one way or the other.

Doesn't appear to be fuel problem.Fuel pumps come on when I get power to them,and truck will start. Problem is I have to turn on key 3-4 times sometimes to get fire at engine or power to wiring at pumps.What besides pick-up in dist. or elec.ignition module could be affecting both?
