wiring gone wrong

I have a1979 f150 that my brother-in -law had and a few wiring poblems with the left turn signal and left brake light, the yellow wire should have juice but does not and has been cut under the dash, when I put them back together it burns and the brake switch will not cut it off and the turn signal still does not work. The flasher was cut that has a red and redwhite wire on one side and whitestripe on the other I put them back like they should be and I still have my first problem can you help could a short in the column cause my problem?

Is this the main yellow wire that feeds power to most of the truck? In other words, with the yellow wire not hooked together, what doesn't work?

A good thing for you to do while sorting this out is to get a small battery charger and hook it up to the battery cables after taking them off the battery. Any problems will trip the circuit breaker in the battery charger, and not burn up your wiring while you figure it out.
