in response to advise from a previous thread, im looking into installing a new turbine housing on my 97 PSD. any suggestions as to which brand to use, and what A/R ratio would be good? thanks.
It depends on the future plans for your truck. Are injectors in your future?? If so I would go with a 1.0 a/r. If not some say a .84 a/r works well. Also what do you do with your truck? Do you tow alot? I dont think .84 housing is real good for towing. To small and creates to much drive pressure when your running hard. I got mine from Dale @tymarperformance.
wow, that was a whicked fast response. i dont tow more than a pop up camper. not sure if there are injectors, id guess not. i really dont drive the truck hard. i barely ever take it over 2300 rpm or so before i shift. so you would suggest a tymar 1.0?? also, im not very mechanically inclided. is this something i would be able to install myself?
I second the 1.0, just for the ability to step up to stage ones eventualy.
Call Dale, he will tell ya EVERY little thing about changing them out. I can PM you his number if you dont have it.
Diesel Rod
if you could, that would be greatly appreciated. am i also going to have to change my intake filter and tube? im just itching for an excuse to do so, im hoping this might be it. if so, any suggestions on that?

The turbo has to come off to install. Its fairly intense...and takes 2-3 hours the first time, alot of cussin and skinned knuckes. I've pulled mine off 3-4 times now and I can get it off in less than a hour. Ya got to have a good set of tools also.......
well, cussin im really good at, so i shouldnt have a problem doing that for 2 hours or so. ive got a buddy with a dodge diesel who builds firetrucks n knows everythign there is to knwo about engines. he'll probably be helping.
I third the 1.0, I think the .84 is too small for any modified truck. IMO, if you are planning on bigger injectors in the future, you should stick with your stock 1.15 housing.
