Rear Brakes

Had an issue with my parking brake locking up on the passenger side, while I was pulling everything apart, I noticed time for new brakes. I've changed the brakes, and unknowingly left the the parking brakes unattached. But now the brake pedal is spongy when stopping.

I've not done Rear brakes before but pretty sure I put em back together properly, minus the pbrake. Also read about the self adjuster but not exactly sure if that's the cause of the sponieness. Any hints?

Blast.

Welcome to FTE!

First, it's always helpful to tell us something about the vehicle.

My guess is that you didn't adjust the brakes when you were done. The e-brake on most vehicles doesn't affect the pedal. The only parts the brakes and the e-brake share are the shoes and drums. Everything else is seperate, so one problem won't affect the other.

To adjust the brakes, jack the rear axle off the ground and put the truck in neutral. Spin each tire by hand. Stick a screwdriver in the adjusting slot in the bottom of the backing plate and keeping turning it (whichever way is easier) until the shoes lightly rub all the way around. Repeat for the other side.

Your pedal should feel much better.
