First pop the hood and look for your EEC connector. It's up by your master cylinder and cruse control servo. It is two plasic connecters with one having four terminals and the other having only one. Simply connect the single terminal connecter with a bit of wire to any good ground.
Now in the cab get comfey with a notebook pad and get ready to count a blinking light. Turn the key to on and be ready to write. The check engine light blinks in numerical patterns to tell you the code with long, longer and short spaces between the blinks. A grouping of short blinks totaled up is the first digit of the code with a long pause and a grouping of short blinks to make up the second digit of the code. A longer pause means the start of a next code. When the end of the code list is reached, it automaticly starts over. If you lose track, just turn the key off/ on and start again. I usually do it with dots being a blink, slash being a long pause between the two numbers of a code, and two slashes being the longer pause between codes.
I pulled the codes and came up with1, 111,111,1 628,628.Can anyone tell me what the 1 is, I can not find that code. Also what is the 628 (convertor clutch error E40D) mean
Converter clutch error, The E4OD tranny has a locking tourque converter and is operated by a solenoid, Take note when cruising at around 100-110 KPH, with OD on, on a flat road, do you feel any slight vibrations from the tranny while at that speed, and does it dissapear when you take foot off the gas slightly ?, my 1990 bronco had that problem and it turned out to be the solenoid for the locking tourque converter with that code, it wasnt allowing it to lock all the way. Just didnt happen all the time though, but enough to put code in memory
