I need to change the fuel filter in my E-350 2003 7.3L PSD ( Van ) does
anyone have any experience who wouldn't mind advising me. the owners
guide supplement says I have to remove three bolts on turbocharger heat shield and then the heat shield. ( step # 5 ) ?, then to remove bolt and resonator ( step # 6 ) ? whats a resonator ?, not sure about the heat shield
either. In the van, something hangs over part of the screw-on cap to the filter ( probley the heat shield ). it looks like it will prevent me from getting the cap off and the filter out without force; and/or having trouble getting the new one back in and properly seated
UGH! Have fun with that job. I've looked under the hood on an E-450 and that filter is BURIED.
So far I have had the good fortune of avoiding that job.
Are they differant than a 98. My dads 98 E-350 isn't that hard. On his truck you open the hood and remove the airbox. His has 2 filters over the front of the engine. Once the airbox is out of the way the filter canister is right there. Not sure about your van though. Maybe its differant?
Lancer, I only looked once a while ago and thought it was buried. With the dual filters that you speak of. So it's relatively easy once the filters are out of the way? I may be called on to do his fuel filter some day, he's a customer of mine who drives a real trick little turbo-diesel VW pickup.
Ya its not that hard at all. I think there is about 4 or 5 little bolts holding the box in. Once its out of the way you can get at it no prob. I've changed the fuel filter a few times and i've changed the gpr to. Hope this helps Lancer
