adding headers to 239cid
Hey fellas,
I'm new to the site just purchased a '54 last week...(see gallery).the fella I got the truck from has a separate engine w/manifold to mount headers. Could use some helpful input as this is my first "4," wheeled project. Thanks!

There were 2 different 239's in 54 USA production. The EBU casting was primarily a car engine and early trucks. It has unique tiny exhaust ports. The EBV casting was used on the remaining 54 and all 55's. It uses the 55-56 size ports common across all Y Blocks.
Since it is a Ford anything could have been changed so you really need the head castings as well. Go here for block and head info.

NOW, if it is a Canadian truck the 239 is a flathead!
Reds Headers is the best header source but he will need ALL pertinent info.
