Balancer "Upgrade" for 352 Question...
SO here it goes....
I have a '67 352 FE and I'm in the process of "upgrading" my truck (from a '76 F-100 360 FE parts truck) to power steering/power breaks/front disk, and whatever else I can take off of this parts truck. Probably keep the 360 and tranny, but might get rid of them, not sure yet, but anyways, back to the point......
I'm at the part of my "upgrade" for the power steering. I have the manual box, and column out of the way, and the next part it to get add an additional pulley to my existing balancer to give me the power steering belt groove that I need or use another balancer, which had a two groove pulley attached to it, which comes from my parts truck.
The stock balancer on the '67 352FE has the altenator groove set in it and the crank bolt area is recessed from the front. I need the second groove for the power steering pump. I have the two groove pulley for the water pump, and it lines up with the altenator pulley groove, so at the most, if I can get a second groove on the balancer, I might have to adjust the ps bracket to line them up, but that is secondary as to what I need to accomplish.
Sooooo, here are my questions........
1) Is it going to be a problem if I take the 2 groove pully off of the 360 balancer, machine new holes for attaching it to the 352 balancer (the threaded holes, 3 of them, are slightly narrower on the 352 balancer than they are on the 360 balancer), and attach it to the 352 balancer, as long as the edge of the pulley is equidistant for the whole circumference of the balancer?
or
2) Can I take the balalncer off of the 360 and put it on the 352? This would make the process a whole lot easier, but I don't want to screw up the 352.
I'm getting conflicting information, so I thought that I'd come to the knowledge source.

First, for reference, my possibly cobbled combo has the outer crank groove turning the water pump and power steering. As a note, the power steering has a spacer between it and the head where the stud goes in.
The inner crank groove has a belt that turns the water pump and the alternator.
So, I am using a 2 groove crank pulley and water pump pulley.
As for you maching any holes, that shouldn't need to be done. Use the 2 groove pulley off the 360 and the bolts should work on either damper to my knowledge. The 352 and 360 are both internal balance (good imo) so yes you can swap the balancers but like i said you shouldn't have any problems with bolts and bolt holes.
I tried to initianlly match the 2 groove off of the 360 to the 352 balancer and the holes didn't line up. Either way, I pulled the 360 balancer off and put it on the 352, along with the 2 groove pulley. The belt matches the alternator and water pump groove, so all I'm going to need to do it shim out/match up the ps pulley.
I appreciate the input!
