Help with 460 build.

I'm building a 460 for my 1977 F-150 4x4, 4-speed and I need some help. Here is what I have.
I have 2 disassemble 460's. One is a 1972 and one is a 1973. The 1972 has the open chamber heads (only year for this). It also has near flat top pistons, one of which is broken. I have a set of ported DOVE heads with hardened valve seats, no valve train.
I have the block from the 1972 honed, it is a D1 block. I think that makes it a 10.322 deck height. I plan on using my pistons from the 1973 which have a 1973 casting number with my DO heads. Here is a carcaft build using 22cc dished pistons with DO heads, it have them 8.82 to 1 compression, I'd like a little more than that. I'd like to run on 87 octane but 93 would be ok too.
http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/116_0008_ford/ Anyone know the dish size on the D3 piston? The car craft motor's pistons were .022 below the deck which would mean they also had 10.322 deck. I was thinking of having my block decked to 10.300 but I am also trying to do this on a budget.
Then the valve train is another issue. I am buying all new valves, springs, rockers and hardened push rods. I'm not really sure what to do about the pistons and my compression ratio. Can anyone shed some light on the subject.

If I use my D1 block with the D3 pistons and DO heads anyone know what my compression ratio will be? Basically that would be like putting DOVE heads on a 1973 460. Anyone know anything about the D2 pistons? They look almost like a flat top and I think they would produce a lot of compression with a DO head since these pistons were used with the 105cc open chamber head, probably too much compression.

Anyone know of a piston that would give 9 to 9.5:1 compression with a 10.322 deck height and a DOVE head? I hear the DOVE heads are 72cc to 75cc. I would prefer a cast or hypereutectic to keep the price down.

Yes, it would.
This site has a 385 engine series forum for questions relating to the 429/460.

The questions you ask are not related to the 73-79 truck.

Welcome to FTE!
