Just wanted to throw up a thread to ask what all is the best towing mods to do. i have a 01 F250 Stock height/Auto etc etc. Have a intake/exhaust. Plan on doing a DP chip as well in near future. But my question is what other mods are good to make towing easier and better and safer for the truck....and just plain more relaxing. I am looking fo all items considered. I just see so many options out ther ranging from cheap "freeish" mods and the more expensive routes of the same thing. I am not concerned with the costs so to speak, but obviously if something can be done cheaper and JUST AS GOOD ..i am all for it, and on reverse side of that if the cheaper version is good but spending a few hundred would be much better then the extra money is not a concern. So what are the main things to do and what are they. All input appreciated. Just trying to get truck more prepared to tow the car and trailer this spring since i will be covering ALOT more on east coast this year.

Tony,
1) gauges
2) sonnax/tricumulator kit for tranny
3)Factory Tech Valve body kit for tranny
4) T/C lock-up override.
5) Exhaust brake
6)Water/meth injection for heavy towing

I see PSnut beat me to it but I also would put gauges high on the list of first "mods" to do. Trans temp (if you have an auto), boost and most important, IMHO, Pyrometer (EGT) gauge.
The Air Lift airbags will help alot on the 250...they even have a kit that is adjustable from in the cab. If not adding a tuner I would still recomend guages. In fact the BullyDog Outlook monitor is very nice and you dont need a tuner for it to work. It can also be setup to De-Fuel your truck some on those big hills if your about to melt a piston. Cause that would just ruin your trip. Have a good summer towing your Toy.
have you ever heard of the sonnax valve/tricumulator springs? BASICALLY the same thing, but $225. maybe the accumulators are designed differently, but i have better things to spend $175 on.
IF you are towing heavy loads and you have an auto tranny... a tranny temp gauge, the sonnax kit, and a big tru-cool tranny cooler in addition to your stock tranny coolers are really important upgrades for your mule... sure you can tow with a stock setup... but plan on buying a new tranny long before you want to if you do...

They carry this FTVB. Look very closely because Strokin is right the sonnax kit is only $50 and pretty much does the same thing. Have read a few posts over at TDS about people loving the FTVB set-up.

thanks..! and i didn't even have to apologize for writing a long post..! the truth is there are lots of things to consider when towing... i just wanted to chime in with specifics about the auto tranny since so many people have it, i remember when i first started reading this site... i knew almost NOTHING about the tranny i had in my truck and i could have destroyed it very easilly towing my 5ver if i had not learned what i learned by reading the posts on here...!
