Hey guys, I'm continuing to ready my parts list for the smogging of my '79 300-6 (CA). Since there isn't a whole lot I can do about getting away from the stock intake and exhaust manifold - I've been looking into getting both of them coated (aesthetic and functional reasons). I've been referred to what is supposed to be quite a professional outfit. Have any of you done business with (H)igh (P)erformance (C)oatings AKA HPC? They're supposed to do good work with a guarantee that the coating doesn't fail unlike what I've been told about the "jet-coating." I'm going to send them my intake and see what it looks like before sending them my exhaust manifold - is anyone interested to see the before and after pics? I'd be happy to take some Polaroids and scan/post them in. I know I've just a six, but the process is supposed to do some good for those of us stuck to the old cast iron manifolds from the way back past.
I'm definitely interested. I've never heard of HPC myself, but I do know that I could use some coatin on my intakes. Let me know how it goes, and send some pics if you get a chance, fordmanslo(No Email Addresses In Posts!) I assume you're in CA, if you're near SLO, look me up sometime.
extrude honing is a process where they take a like paste that has grit in it and press it through the ports (from the pics I've seen it looks kinda like a dry concrete that hasn't set up yet, like 3 inch slump concrete or less if I remember the term right), in the process the grit wears a little off of the port. I haven't seen any adds for the company in a long time, but I am pretty sure they are still in business. I can try to dig up a address or phone number if you want it. The best advantage is it's like a full port and polish but from the outside the part looks the same as it was before
