Door chime on 2006 models
Wanted to do away with my open door/key chime niose in my 2006 and found out the have made a slight change to this years model from lasts. Wanted to pass this along.
Remove the panel from below the steering column. You will still look for a black wire with a pink stripe. But this wire does not terminate at a plug end in this area. You will see a pink wire with a black stripe at a plug end, but this is not your wire for this. Guess how I found out? There will be two bundles of wire running vertically in this area and have no plug ends in this area. These bundles will each have about 15 to 20 wires. Look through each of these bundles and you will locate the black wire with pink stripe. This IS your wire.
Because I wanted to be able to disable the chime only when I wanted it off, I bought a small toggle switch at the auto parts store and mounted just to the right of my right foot area in a area of the console that is not really visible unless your really looking for it. I then ran two small guage wires to the "cut" black/pink wire and connected them. Now, no chime only when I flip the switch.
