It's not all that hard if you have the right tools and all the parts. You'll need the engine, different tranny (C4 is most common to swap), I suggest using a fullsize t-case or you can adapt to your BW1350. You'll need a bigger radiator, oil filter relocator, you can make engine mount from 1/4 in plate. You'll probably need driveshafts, and possibly have to swap axles shortly after depending on how hard you drive. It is easier to swap in a carbed V8 but EFI isn't impossible.
I would highly suggest Carbed if ur gonna do it, don't have to mess with computer can get alot more of the old school power goin on. Also me and a boy dropped an EFI into his 99 and it was such a pain in the *** so when i dropped my in i put a carb and it was so much easier so take it from my expeirence on that. But other than the work its pretty easy. theres so many companies makin adapters out there tgat its even easier than when they did it back in the day
Using fuel injection isn't as hard as many people think, especially if you have a donor vehicle. Yes it is more involved and you need to do a little research but it is worth it. I would have done it if I had an EFI donor. You will make better power, more efficiency, and better consistancy. Depending on your area you need to use a same year or newer engine for your swap. If this is your case you will need EFI to pass smog emissions. There are a lot of things to consider before you start swapping, only if you want it to be street legal.
