The way things are going right now, My Camaro will be finished with in a year. I don't want to wait around till that time to have another project waiting.
As you know, I'm partial towards Chevy so that is what I've been looking at. Tell me what I have available for Ford.......
I demands something with a light body, parts available (aftermarket, OEM, or used rebuildable), Pre-Emmision, & completely fun when I'm done.
Hell with it, I may just get me another Mustang II.
I have never had the time for this project so maybe it can be your project. Try a 1968 Falcon Futura 2 door, put a 351 Cleveland in it, 5 speed, 3.73 gears, a 750 4 barrel with the appropriate cam and internals. A car that is rarely seen anymore and is as great of an icon as the old Novas.
Hell with it, I may just get me another Mustang II.
First thing that came to mind when I read your post. Another option would be a Pinto....with a rear mounted 460..well..that would be fun..or maybe just put it up front, and might have to move the firewall and everything back, but you could move the seat back..
You could always build up an 'F' body 'Stang. They're fast with a 302 - very fast with a Windsor in them. But make sure you install sub-frame supports.
get you self a granada, slap in a 351, build your self a sleeper. ( they were offered with a 3 spped over drive on the floor, slip in a nice top loader)
You guys talking about fairlanes makes me want to call a old high school buddy.
Last year he was going to sell me his old 62 or 63 failane 500 for only $400.00. It still had the original 262 (I think that was it) & ran like a dream.
He was wanting to sell it because of lack of storage for it & ultimately, that is why I didn't buy it. I didn't have a place for it with my Camaro, Motorcycles, Both my wrecked F-150's (remember those stories?), my Grand prix, Mazda, Granada, & both Mustang II's sitting around.
Everything has been sold now except for the Camaro & Harley. I wonder if he still has that car? I'm gonna track down his number & call.
I won't forget about that Futura. PM me with more info with what you have done with it & condition.
After I started thinking about the Mustang II's I thought Pinto to be different. Just a thinking decision now, but a Pinto with a 351W & C-4 will move down the road sideways pretty good.
I had a 75 Maverick with a 351C that the previous owner shoved in it and it was one of the quickest cars I've owned. Go with a Maverick, it'll be the ultimate sleeper.
