So my friends grandpa took my car in for an alignment and the guy, (who i trust, he is a good friend) told me my explorer needs
left lower ball joint
two sway bar bushings
my right lower ball joint is not pressed all the way in (he said its about 1/8 of an inch off)
I was wondering if any of this stuff was easy enough, that i could fix it myself, and i dont have a huge understanding of cars, or a huge range of tools. Also he qouted me about $360 is this a good price for this kind of work.
Thanks in advance for any help.
No its a 96 XLT AWD V8. There are not the noises you described, but if i have been driving for a while it sounds like there is a warping noise coming from my right wheel. I dont know what that could be.
If you don't have the experience or the tools, let him do it. The price is reasonable and if he's a friend of yours he won't rip you off, which happens all too often when it comes to front end work. Maybe he can let you watch/assist him so you can learn how to do this for future reference.
