cancer

i know alot of people have dealt with this issue, but i can't stress enough how important it is to not only stop smoking, but to get checked often.
my wife & i have been dealing with small cell lung cancer since april '05 and we thought we had it beat. well.... not even. it's back! in her brain. i'm not preaching to the choir, but i beg people to get checked!
my wife may not be here in a couple of months. she knows that. i don't want to read more threads like this! none of you want to have to post a thread like this. yes she smoked! now she knows it screwed her up. but if anything comes of it, it will be to STOP 1 person from what she is going through!
this isn't a sympaty thread. i hope it gets locked. i just want 1 person to say they quit because of it. we both want that as her legacy.

I'm 17, I made a mistake. I tried smoking last weekend with some people. Luckily, I didn't particularly enjoy it. Just want to let you all know, I'm not fixin' to start doing it regularly, or occasionally.

If I started smoking, I wouldn't be able to afford Gas money, and I love my truck wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more than smoke.

spidk43 & encho are the reason i started this. so it helps someone stop or not start.
tps0424 & farmfoward, thoughts like yours warm our hearts.
we had the full array of tests yesterday CT, bone scan, x-rays. wont know results probably 'till early next week, and she stated getting radiation therapy on the new tumor.
i'll keep up dating and replying to the great thoughts coming from a great bunch of people. you have become a much appriciated source of support for 2 people you all don't know from squat. (a thank-you prayer for all of you)

I have prostate cancer. I had surgery last July that was unsuccessful. In September, I started brachytherapy which is where they implant radioactive seeds into your prostate and wait for the radiation to run it's course. I've been told it takes 10 months to work. Waiting is stresful but, the doctors are hopeful. I'm going back for a checkup tomorrow.

What I'm saying is that I want to back up lenny and say 'Take your health seriously and be honest with your doctor'. I'm 40 years old. Most men who get prostate cancer are over 60 and they don't even regularly check you until 50. I guess I got a second chance by taking health care seriously. I spoke up about an embarrassing problem I was having which made him suspect cancer. I almost didn't. I waiting until I was about to walk out the door. If I hadn't I wouldn't have had the biopsy. I may not have found it until 50 or it may have been too late when it was found.

God bless Nancy during this difficult time.
