Hello from central Wa. I found this forum while looking for info on my newly acquired 1963 F600 (or maybe its a F650?). The truck is a stake/dump bed, with a 5 spd trans. 2 spd rear end. The rear end wont shift into High range, when I put it in High range nothing happens except the switch gets hot. I am guessing I have a short somewhere but I really don't even know how the rear end works. I scraped the road grime off of it and found a few numbers, its an Eaton rear end.Any help would be appreciated. About myself- I come from a Ford family, my father and bro. are the collector/restorers of the family. I myself am more into the heavy rigs, I love the old time Big rigs. I drove truck OTR for a few years and got it in my blood. I will be lurking/learning on this forum for awhile, thnx, Ron In Easton, Wa.
Nevermind, I figured I might as well just dive into it and see what its all about. The motor for the "screw" is burned out. I just gotta find a new one or have this one rebuilt. Do they still sell the screw motors? Where could I get any info on these parts. Thanks for any help. Ron
The Eaton rear is common, try some of the heavy truck dealers/service dept. They might be able to get one(have the axle tag info) or point you to someone who rebuilds the electric motor.
Thanks, I will get on the horn today. The truck runs/looks great except for the rear end not working. I am looking forward to taking it for a drive. Ron
