Does anyone out there have a f-350 sd with the snow plow pkg.?
Can you give the specs for the front end components? That is from ford not the plow or the frame components but oem from ford. I need this information. I know that the coil springs are heavier and that the cost is 85 bucks anything else?

I have an '06 with the plow prep package, it gets you 6,000 lb front spring, a new fan clutch, I assume it keeps the fan going more often since the plow blocks airflow, and it gets you the 140 amp alternator.
Thanks! Thats what I thought to until I had a shake in the front end of my 06 srw lwb cc 4x4. have you looked at the ball joints and the tie rod ends and compared them to a standard 350? I found out today my truck has the same front end components as 550 according to my dealer. They did a front end alignment and said the shake was the nature of having the snow plow pkg and the 550 heavy components. Anyone heard this? I did look at a standard f-350 drw 4x4 and the frontend parts are light compared to what is under my truck. I thought I was getting heavier springs, 140 amp alt. to. My dealer can not explain it but they are checking it out for me.
I picked it up right before thanksgiving It is a 2006 v-10 cc lwb srw 4.30gears 4x4 torq shift a/t with 2000 miles and some real crummy tires 18" contis
With the 4.30s did you get the TowBoss package? That ups your towing and GCVW to a max of 19,200 and 26,000, respectively. This may explain the upgrade front end to handle the extra weight. Do you have leaf springs in front or coils?
It is a standard 2006 sd F350 4X4 CC XLT lwb, w/ AT. 6.8L V10; 430 limited slip; 11200 gross vehicle weight; rear stablizer bar; upfitter switches; snow plow package; 12.5K trailer hitch; tow command system; and a camper package which adds an extra leaf in the rear springs. The dealer can not explain the heavy duty front end. I special order the truck. DuallyBoy, I don't understand. Any help is appreciated.
What I understand of everything said here (I'm getting my info. from sunrise ford's web site)
The snow plow package with a 6.0 will get you a different fan and alternator as mentioned. With the 6.8 you only get heavier front springs (you'll find a sticker on the coil with an X on it) and a removable little plastic panel on the front end somewhere to run plow cables to be run through.
The heavier front end components your seeing are because of the Dana "Super 60" front end you have. You got that front end because of the gears you ordered (you ordered about the exact same truck I did 3 weeks ago!).
The dealer is right about the "same as the 550" thing. But thats no reason to have steering problems, or shake.
The TowBoss package is only a diesel thing to. It includes a limited slip 4.30 gear that is otherwise not available with the diesel. TowBoss isnt available with a gas engine at all because the limited slip 4.30 rear end is a regular option.
Check out the sunrise ford site. The info. there is AWSUME!!!
Thanks Big Cheese! But I just got back from a buddy of mine who lives up the street. He has a dually with the same 4.30 gear and v-10 sc lwb 4x4. The front end of his truck is not near as heavy as the monster I have in the garage.Where does state that you get a Dana 60 with this gear? I am still learning these new trucks. I have never had the luxuary of owning a new truck. I am used to the old 250s.
Dude I just went out a crawled all over the front end of my truck. No such x tag on my coil springs. Standard ford part (53c ado 34) type number but no X
check out P13 on that second link. That describes what the packages are. If you had ordered ANY truck there shouldnt be a problem with the front end! I'd go to a different dealer and not say anything about what the first dealer told you. See what they say (smaller dealers are usually a LOT better with service, bigger dealers just dont care unless your buying a new care right at that moment).
The standard front end is a Dana 60, the super 60 is the BIG'UN under your truck.
I have pretty much the identical truck to yours other than mine is an F250, I don't have the camper package and I have the 4.10's. I have the plow package and I just had a Western plow installed 2 weeks ago. Just turned 1K miles, so far no shake. I do get a pretty good jump in the steering wheel on some of the larger bumps, but so far no shake or death wobble.
