Hard starting/fuel?

70 F250 wth 300/6 1b carb.

this puppy is a bugger to start if it's been sitting for a few days. I have to pump the hell out of it. If it's been driven the day before, it starts right up with maybe one pump.

Any ideas on how to improve this?

have you checked the choke(does it close all the way)? Any vacum leaks. Hows the compresion. We need some more info to diagnose this one.
