Charging problems.....

I have a 1994 Idi Turbo diesel.....I have searched the forums for ideas.....but not sure still. Batteries hooked up or un hooked still test 12.5 volts. When running still tests 12.51 volts.Gauge is showing about 9. Battery light is coming on and flickering. Alternator had been replaced about a year ago. Could it be the regulator? Any way to test it?

Mike

Check your fusible links J and K they are grey in color, check for 12V power at the alt connector on the Black and Orange wire and the Yellow and white. Alternators require power to make power...........

Here is info from my CD.

With voltage applied, regulator is activated, allowing current to flow from sense A (Y/W) circuit to alternator field coil. Alternator generates an AC output which is converted to a DC output by a rectifier assembly internal to alternator, and is supplied to vehicle through the B terminal ( BK/O wire). S (stator) (BL/W wire) circuit is used to feed back a voltage signal from alternator to regulator, this voltage (typically half battery voltage), is used to turn of the indicator. Need mor info or pics Click on my name and email me.
