I am having slow throttle response and it has been pointed out that the problem could be my TPS. Nothing I have tried so far has helped but I have NOT tried replacing the TPS yet. Any agree on that call?
On another note, I have regeared my truck up to 4:56 gears and I was told that my gas milage might get better with the new gears but it hasn't, it's been worse. The reason for the gear change was because I lifted it and put 35" tires on it. With stock tires I was getting between 375-400 miles to a tank depending on how I drove it. With the 35" tires I lost about 75-80 miles to a tank and now with the new gears I am getting even less milage...about 275-290 a tank. One guy suggested that it might be the fuel mapping sensor. Does anyone agree?
When you say that it has slow throttle response do you mean it feels gutless? In neutral does it rev up as fast as it should?
Is your MAF sensor clean?
Did you recalibrate the speedo for the tire size?

It doesn't rev up as fast as other f-150's, even V-6's. Once it gets rolling "it goes" but off the line it's a dog. All the parameters of the program are fine. I started noticing the "off the line lag" before I did any improvements.
Do you know anything about the fuel milage? Fuel mapping sensor?
Unfortunately even with the lower gears it still takes a lot to get bigger tires rolling.
The biggers tires also don't cut through the air as easy as smaller ones so that doesn't help the mileage either.
There's no such thing as a fuel mapping sensor. I wonder if he meant the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor? It's easy to clean and can make quite a difference. You'll find instructions for cleaning it if you do a search in the forum.
Why did you lift it w/ 35's and put gears in it when you are so worried about gas mileage?
My concern is that I got better milage before I put the gears in. It wasn't as quick, of course, but I got better milage. I was told by a few members here that I should notice an increase in milage after I gear up.

I have cleaned the MAF before and it didn't make any noticable difference. I was told there is a sensor right below or around the TPS that is supposed to help adjust fuel/air but I thought that was what the MAF was for.
There is another sensor in the air intake that measures the IAT (intake air temp). A good scanner with live data logging will show to what the sensors are doing.
