rear heater issue

rear heater issue

My rear heaater blows cold air. The froont heater is fine. Any suggestions.
The kids are cold back there.

check to see if the hot coolant is getting to the rear unit. i am not sure, but see if the rear unit has a blend door.

This happened to me too. Open that rear compartment that holds the jack on the passenger side opposite the spare. I have a 2000 Ex and I can only tell you what I experienced. You should see a few insulated pipes. Sorry about the terminology, I have no idea what they are called. Anyway, start the truck and turn on the heater front and back. When it gets warm, feel the tubes. If they warm up, then there is a problem with the door inside the rear heating unit. If they don't warm up, something else is wrong. I guess the heat comes from the front and is piped to the back. I don't remember if all the pipes back there warm up or what, but it was pretty clear that I was getting a heat to the rear but it just was not being released. It looked too complicated for me to take apart the truck to get at the rear control unit, so I decided to take it in. It took about $100 for them to fix the door. All works great now. There are other threads that are far better at explaining what is happening.
