Brand Bashing

question for the members??

who or what determines brand bashing??

I just finished reading " GM ruins another vehicle" and there was a reference to the vehicle looking like POOP.

OTOH, I've been accused of brand bashing by the moderators yet I have been unable to find a specific.

is brand bashing to be defined like ponography ie... "you know it when you see it "or could it be summed up as being defined by community standards??

ie.. the standards of the community decides when it is brand bashing?

IMHO, since this is a Ford website and claims are made that no brand bashing is allowed, there seems to be a double standard.

Theres opinions people give on certain vehicles, and then bashing. You can tell the difference usually, someones opinion was that chevy looks like "poop" ok there opinion it might just be a ugly car. Then theres hating a specific vehicle JUST because its a chevy,or JUST because its a jeep etc etc etc. Thats the way i look at it at least. I tend not to hate a certain vehicle just because its a different brand.

Good analogy, I guess it is a lot like pornography. I think opinions and criticism turn into brand-bashing when the opinion no longer contains any facts or reasonable arguments that can be substantiated. You can trash a brand all day long by talking about its poor mileage, shoddy engineering, lack of quality, etc... as long as you back it up with some facts. Broad generalizations about how lousy a particular brand is serve no purpose here, so they should be banned.
