Got my Tranny temp gauge installed over the weekend (pyro is in and wired, just need to drill and tap for probe)
Went for a drive. At first I thought the gauge wasn't working because it didn't move. (It was about 35 degrees outside)
After a several miles it started to show some temp. Took it on the interstate up a 1/2 mile hill or so. managed to get the temp up to just shy of 150.
This morning on my way in to work (7.5 mile trip) 2 miles of city streets 5.5 miles of interstate. the tranny temp only got up to 125. (again, about 35 degrees out)
Do those temperature ranges seem normal? I guess I expected the tranny would heat up faster.
(if its correct, it does demonstrate what a worthless piece of crap the dash tranny gauge is. Dash tranny gauge goes to normal within 30 seconds of driving. and doesn't move after that)
About 90 degrees over ambient temp is about right....so yes your temps are correct given it was 35 deg outside. And yes it does prove that the in dash gauge is just a dummy gauge.
I have a digital monitor and in Florida - pulling a boat down the interstate in the summer mine will get to 168 and that has been the highest. Highest engine temp was 211 degrees
