auto trans?
i have a '66 f100 with a newer 300 and a 3 on the tree. the trans it about shot. i was wondering if there is a good 4 speed auto that would bolt in with not too much work.i am mecanicly inclined so the work is not a problem but if anyone knew any websites with new mounts or whatever and could point me in that direction. i know you guy will tell me to rebuild the tran but i am over all the shifting. all of my cars, trucks and bike are shifts so i just want to cruise.

You could use the E4OD, but the E stands for electronic, and has to be controlled by a puter.
I would suggest an AOD that does not require computer control. If your 66 is like mine there isn't a puter in there anywhere to run one.

Any mid eighites AOD from a small block will bolt up to the 300. just make sure the correct flywheel and torque converter from a AOD 4.9/300 is used. not the 50 OZ balance small block unit.
Use a Lokar Cable to set up the TV valve. as there is no other way to hook up to the carb on a 300. TV cable is critical as if it is not correct it will lunch the transmission in short order. BTDT.

Not that I suggest any differant than the E4OD, but you can use a newer 'puter controlled tranny. There is a kit to allow using the newer trannys in older non-'puter controlled applications, not exactly cheap, but.... go here-> http://www.becontrols.com/products/tcs.htm
