i searched but i kept typing in the wrong thing and now it says i cant search any more in this session.... so ill just post it.
i am running 32X11.5 tires and 3.50 gears i have a 390 with a C6 and on take off it lags but it aint no slug and when im cruseing and floor it it dosent pin you to the seat but it does take off. i would like a little more of it pining you down and throwing the passengers head into the glass.
my question is would 3.73 or 4.11 be better. it is a daily driver mostly city but a good bit of highway too. if i change the tires it would only be to 33X12.5.
also did they offer 3.73 from the factory with the 9" and D44 high pinion?
My truck has 285/75R16 tires (32.8"), and with my C6, I run about 3100 rpms at 70mph with 4:10's. If you go to 3:73's you may not notice a big difference, I just went from 3:45 to 3:73 in my 79 Capri, and did notice a little, but not as much as going from the 3:55 to the 4:10 in my truck. Besides, if you do the 4:10's now, you will be ready for a bigger tire size if you want to change later.
The only bad thing about 4.11s is the RPMs while highway driving. I personally would only go to 3.73 even if I ran 33s, but I you don't mine the RPMs and you want a real good take of, then 4.11s would do it for you.
I promise you that 390 isn't exactally the best engine for throwing you back in your seat, but it gets the job done. If you consider some engine work, the 3.73s would be plenty.
not really looking to do engine work, dont really need to that thing is strong beyond belief but the 350s and the 32s make it take off like crap and i live 2 miles up a mountain and it gets warm pretty quick goin up it. plus i have been thinkin that when i get money get an over drive from gear vendors and use an np205 with np 203 driveshafts and put the overdrive where the range box for the 203 would be and mabey fab up a spacer to get it just right.
edit: come to think of it im gonna make a thread about that overdrive thing.
