Smile Electrical acc/ glow plug power problem

Here's one for the books, I wrote in yesterday with my problem in my 97 F250 PSD 4x4. Original problem was no power to gauges, radio and glow plugs, the idle computor came on but said c error, and the odometer also came on. The engine would crank but not fire. The main problem appeared to be no power to fuse # 22 in the dist box under the hood and that all fuse and relays were good. Further testing, reading and ***#! continued till late today when the problem was finally tracked down. Fuse # 22 gets its power from the ignition switch, which in turn gets it from fuse # 17 in dist box, as stated before this fuse was good and had power yet there was no power in the wiring at the switch. the fault was in the main wiring harness about three inces from the plu g in the firewall on the engine side. A yellow wire with a broken grey tracer had failed, further investigation revealed that at some time in the past the wires insulation had been puctured causing its eventual failure. The only indication of the failure was that the insulation around the wire on either side of the puncture had bubbled. The actual puncture was hidden under the factory tape over the harness. I thought everyone should know if this happens to them.

Wow....what are the odds of a wire failing while taped in a harness......

Wonder what punctured it?
